On 30 April a group of five walkers (Penny Rees, Penelope Malinga, Preven Chetty, Pandora Long and Mike Farley) set out to follow the uMngeni River from its source at the uMngeni vlei below Drinkkop in the Dargle, all the way to Blue Lagoon. Their purpose has been to document the status of the river and to increase public awareness of the various threats to the health of the river. They have sampled, photographed, filmed and recorded, and interacted with many people and schools along the way. They have been posting reports on their progress each day on this blog. The support and the response from landowners, communities and organisations involved in one way or another with the river has been overwhelmingly positive.
This Sunday they will be arriving at the sea and you are all invited to come and meet them. Below is an invitation giving the programme and the timing, and maps to the finish, which will be at the Ezemvelo Beachwood Mangroves.
