On Saturday 11 May, intrepid river explorer, Penz Malinga, members of the Mpophomeni Conservation Group and others passionate about water, will be walking the uMthinzima stream through Mpophomeni.
Beginning at Thurlow, where the stream enters Midmar dam and ending in the hills above Mpophomeni, past Emashingeni.
As during the MayDay for Rivers Walk in 2012, the team will be recording all impacts on the river and conducting mini sass tests. This is a heavily impacted stream which runs right beside a busy township.
N3 Toll Concession, through the Midlands Conservancies Forum, are funding the monitoring of uMngeni tributaries this year. N3TC have also provided a small grant to support the activities of the Mpophomeni Conservation Group.
